I am going on an Alaskan cruise this August on Holland cruiseline. I would like to ask if I should bother bringing a bathing suit for the pool. If the ship has a retractable roof over the pool, is there a chance that it will be open for swimming? How about if there is no roof? Thank you!

I have a friend who wants to go to Alaska, but her husband doesn't, so she'd like to travel alone. I'd go, but cannot afford it at this time.
